Squat tracking guide
AI Squat Counter for Android
Upryte follows the visible movement cycle of a supported squat through your Android phone’s camera. It records completed and partial repetitions in the workout summary without requiring a wearable or account.
Camera placement
Follow the in-app setup guidance and place the phone far enough away to keep the relevant joints visible throughout the movement. Stable placement, even lighting, and an unobstructed side or angled view help pose tracking remain consistent.
Starting position
Begin where your full body remains inside the camera frame. Check the on-screen view before the set and make sure your feet, hips, knees, and upper body will not leave the image as you move.
What Upryte measures
For rep counting, Upryte follows the visible change between the standing and lowered phases. The post-workout result can distinguish completed and partial repetitions and may surface repeated movement patterns when visibility is sufficient.
Common tracking limitations
- Loose clothing, equipment, or another person can hide joints from the camera.
- Moving too close to the phone can send part of your body outside the frame.
- A dark room or strong backlight can reduce landmark visibility.
- Upryte is a tracking tool and does not determine whether a squat is medically safe for you.
How tracking recovers
If tracking becomes unreliable, pause the set, return to the setup view, and adjust the phone until the relevant joints are visible again. Upryte may report that a set could not be assessed rather than infer feedback from incomplete camera coverage.
